TV Show: North Of 60

North of 60 fire deemed accidental
By PETER SMITH

There may be some red faces among the crew on the set of North of 60 -- even after the flames that destroyed part of the set died down.

A fire late Tuesday night destroyed the home that fans of the CBC-TV drama would recognize as Albert's house.

And fire investigators now believe they know what caused the blaze.

Apparently the crew were filming a simulated fire at the house during daylight hours Tuesday for an episode to be screened in future.

It's thought some of the embers from the simulated fire might not have been totally extinguished before everyone left the set.

"We are investigating the possibility of a link between the filming earlier in the day and the fire later," said Redwood Meadows Emergency Services spokesman Rob Evans.

Firefighters arrived at the set 10 km west of Bragg Creek to find "Albert's house" engulfed in flames -- but they prevented flames spreading to other buildings and the surrounding trees.
