While a parade of big-name stars took to the stage for this weekend's "Concert For New York City," the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens quietly made his return to secular music.
The '70s singer-songwriter icon, who converted to Islam in 1977 and now goes by the name Yusuf Islam, performed an a cappella version of his song "Peace Train" during MTV Canada's pre-concert coverage of Saturday's "Concert For New York City." It was the first time in more than 20 years that Islam had performed the song.
