Rockers Metallica have launched their own music festival.

The Orion Music + More event will be staged at Bader Field in New Jersey from June 23-24 and the band will headline.

A post on the Metallica website reads, "After many years of playing at legendary festivals around the world including Reading, Roskilde, Werchter, Rock Im Ring, Rock In Rio, Lollapalooza and countless others, we're hoping to spread the good times and diverse musical feel here in the States..."

Drummer Lars Ulrich adds, "We've had the idea of doing our own lifestyle festival with lots of diverse music and fun and games for years. Finally this year all the practical ducks lined up in a row, and we are beyond psyched to bring Orion to our fans, friends and the curious."

Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold and Modest Mouse will also perform at the event.
