‘Shame’ star Michael Fassbender has signed on to lead the cast in a movie adaptation of hit video game Assassin’s Creed’.

The Irish actor will also co-produce the project, according to trade paper Variety.

Fassbender will play game hero Desmond Miles, who discovers that his ancestors were trained assassins only after he is kidnapped by a mysterious organization related to the Knights Templar and forced to travel back in time to avenge his family's death in Renaissance-era Italy.
